Nechisar National Park

Discover the Plains of Nechisar and the Bridge of God

Nechisar National Park

Located south of Addis Ababa near the town of Arba Minch, Nechisar National Park is one of the most beautiful places in the tropical savannahs of the Rift Valley. Its name, which means "white grass," refers to the central grassy plains that are a striking feature of the landscape. The park is set on an outstandingly scenic part of the Rift Valley floor between two large lakes, Abaya and Chamo. These lakes are separated by a mountainous escarpment known as the "Bridge of God." The park is most famous for its prolific plains wildlife, especially Burchell's Zebra, but is also home to Swayne's Hartebeest, Greater Kudu, and Grant's gazelle. The lakes are rich in wildlife, with Lake Chamo being particularly known for its spectacular population of large crocodiles. With additional attractions like the Kulfo ground water forest and the Filwoha hot spring, Nechisar offers a diverse and unforgettable wildlife and scenic experience.
